Cliffs is a major supplier of high and low volatile metallurgical, used worldwide to produce the highest quality metallurgical coke for the steel, merchant coke and foundry coke industries.  It is also used as a blast furnace injection product in steelmaking, reducing the coke quantity required in the production of pig iron.

• Our North American coal reserves are some of the largest high-quality metallurgical reserves in the United States.   
• Cliffs also mines a smaller quantity of thermal coal, used in the production of energy.
